The 2010 activities of the Project for Monitoring the Changing Oceanographic Conditions of the Marmara Sea (MAREM) assess the environmental status of Turkey's most unique inland sea. The project aims to scientifically monitor the sea's ecosystem and water quality parameters, and the impacts of human activities. Studies have been carried out with contributions from various institutions since 1954, and since 2006 they have continued uninterrupted under the auspices of the Sevinç–Erdal İnönü Foundation. The data obtained provide a scientific foundation for environmental awareness and sustainable management policies.
